Africa's School Bag has been created to address the issues of plastic waste in Africa. It is estimated in Ghana alone waste produced from plastic packaging amounts to nearly three hundred tonnes a day most of it been non-biodegradable. Africa's School Bag is leading the way in sustainable development by making fashionable bags from discarded plastic packaging. Our aim is to not only create employment but to help teach communities especially children the importance of recycling and safeguarding our environment as well as cleaning up the streets.
Firstly the bags are collected from the streets of Ghana they then go to be washed and dried out in the sun ready to be sewn together. They are then stitched into rows ready to be assembled as bags by local seamstresses.
