Fashion designers once again turn unwanted clothes into innovative new designs...
The eco friendly designers including Tanique Coburn and Emmeline Child sent their latest looks down the catwalk at this years Recycling and Waste Management Exhibition, held at the NEC from September 13-15.
Founded in 1967, the Recycling and Waste Management Exhibition (RWM) is the leading exhibition for the recycling and waste management sector, featuring more than 650 exhibitors and attended by over 13,500 visitors this year alone. The exhibition aims to inform and inspire everyone to use recycled materials in all types of products and of course that also means fashion!
The catwalk highlights how textile recycling is becoming an increasingly important part of the recycling sector. According to goverment figures over two million tonnes of clothing is bought each year however only 24% of textiles is recycled. The catwalk has been created in partnership with I&G Cohen, the Salvation Army Trading Company ( SATCoL) and Chris Carey's collections each sponsering new and upcoming designers.
The highlight of the show for me was self-taught London based designer Tanique Coburn working with Chris Carey's Collections. Tanique showed two collections called 'Urban' and 'Country' featuring flamboyant jackets made from recycled tweed and trench fabrics.

I am in love with Tanique's clothing range one of a kind pieces created using previously unwanted garments, perhaps you'll see my clothes on the catwalk next year.
